North Country National Trail NCT
A rolling trail that passes by (though not always alongside) many secluded lakes in the Chippewa National Forest. Of the nation's planned long-distance interstate trails, the North Country National Trail (NCT) will be the longest. The route will eventually reach across the country, connecting New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and North Dakota. Much of the trail is still in the planning stages,Marc Jacobs Sale, but when completed, the final distance will cover about 3,200 miles,Marc Jacobs Sale. Here, within the Chippewa National Forest, the route runs for 68 miles, and of that, this hike covers only a short scenic portion. Special attractions: Wildlife and fishing on out-of-the-way lakes.

The trail is beautiful, especially in the fall,Michael Kors Bags. I encourage any and all to pack it whenever they get the chance. The trailhead is wonderfully remote meaning only people who do their homework will really pass you as you hike. The map provided in the download is not great. The scale is off, some points of the map a mile actually was closer to 3 miles! Other places a mile was only 1/2 mile. A better bet is to follow the topo map or the USGS quads. Stop by the ranger station in Walker (they are very friendly) or order free materials form the Chippewa National Forest website.
